A small
town in wild mountains of Beskidy, hidden in thick forests,
famous for its salt springs, was mentioned in the most
ancient chronicles of Poland. Chemical analisis of the
mineral water of Rabka, made in1858, drew attention
of medical societies which considered
a possible creation of a sanatorium. The centre was
opened in 1861. Then the first baths were built, the
springs - reconditioned and some hotels - opened.
The place became famous for its therapeutic properties,
given by the nature in the mineral water and the mild
climate .
In the end of the 19th century, the therapeutic water
of Rabka was recognized as the strongest salt iodic-bromine
water in Europe, resembling the German and the Austrian
ones. Today the salt springs are used in baths, drinks
and inhalations. Their properties have been recognized
useful in the treatment of air passages, anaemia, allergy,
asthma, problems with metabolism, circulatory system,
sclerosis.

of Natural Therapy in the following departments:

The Sanatorium 'Uzdrowisko Rabka’ is specialized

The stay includes full board ( according to the diet
recommended), medical consultation, two treatments
a day, cultural events organized by the Centre.

Therapy and recreation for children and youth
Uzdrowisko Rabka organizes therapeutic stays for children
and youth, for groups and individuals. The stay consists
of:
- medical consulation
- inhalation of saline (ones a day)
- lodgings (double or o triple rooms with wash-hand
basin, services in corridor, club room)
- board (4 meals a day)
- possibility of different excursions
The Sanatorium 'Uzdrowisko Rabka’ offers a wide range
of therapeutic treatments as for example: electrical
stimulation, gymnastics, ionophoresis, inhalations,
mineral baths, pearl baths, cryotherapy, magnetic
therapy, light therapy, massage, scotch beating, mud
poultice, ultrasound.
Rabka gives to its guests many possibilities of entertainment:
playground and Rabkoland - amusement grounds, different
cultural events, excursions in mountains. You can

The Railway Museum and The Museum of records and curiosities
which shows the history of The UNESCO Medal of Fun,
awarded by world`s children. There are many unusual
things as for example the smallest bicycle and the
biggest pen.
Rabka is also a craddle of the Theatre 'Rabcio’, created
specially to entertain children in hospitals.
June 1st, 1996 the town has been awarded with the
UNESCO title 'Town friendly for children'. |
