Weekend in Cracow
the pearl of Polish Renaissance
DAY 1:
Arrival in Cracow, meeting with the guide, transfer to the hotel. Guided sightseeing tour of Cracow: the Old Town, the Cloth Hall, the Florian Gate, the Collegium Maius, the Main Market Square, the Gothic St. Mary’s church built in 14th century with famous Wit Stwosz altar. Visit of the Museum of Czartoryski where you will see the priceless Lady with an ermine by Leonardo da Vinci. Afternoon visit to the Jewish district of Kazimierz, dinner at a local restaurant in the Old Town.

DAY 2:
Morning visit to the Royal Castle containing collection of the Flemish tapestries, the former residence of Polish kings and the Royal Cathedral with its 18 chapels. Afternoon visit to the famous salt mines in Wieliczka (located 15 km from Cracow)-the oldest salt mine in Europe, which has been operating for 700 years. The Wieliczka salt mine is a unique tourist attraction, enrolled at the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. Evening folkloric performance. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 3:
Departure.

LOCAL EXCURSIONS:
Pieskowa Skala- near Cracow, situated in the Ojcow National Park, in the Valley of Pradnik enclosed by the Pieskowa Skala cliffs, one can see all of the natural components of a Jurassic landscape.
Auschwitz-Birkenau -known world-wide, the city’s name is a symbol of martyrdom of the millions. It is located about 65 kilometres from Cracow. The Nazis established the Auschwitz concentration camp in April 1940. Enlarged in the subsequent years, it became a site of mass genocide. Here died 1.5 million people of 28 nationalities.
Czestochowa-Jasna Gora Monastery-one of the major religious shrines in the Christian world. The monastic complex is a unique historical monument, which also contains a treasury of valuable works testifying the rich national heritage of the Polish state and culture. Adjacent to the Jasna Gora Basilica is the Chapel of the Miraculous Image which contains the famous icon, an object of particular devotion and the destination of pilgrimages. The icon is solemnly revealed for several periods during the day and during some religious celebrations.
Zakopane-situated in a charming valley at the foot of the Polish Tatras. It is the largest winter and mountain-climbing resort in Poland. Ride in traditional wooden rafts down the wild, mountain river Dunajec .
