The Sudety
mountains in the southern - west of Poland arouse interest
because of their mysterious and stormy history.
Inhabited already in palaeolith, even today show traces
of the ancient life.During the second world war the
mountains were a scene of activity of German soldiers
and the fact excites
the imagination of many historians and leaves a veil
of mystery on the mountains` peaks.
To promote the water
The mineral water was already known in 1597, but were
not used for treatment.
The development of therapeutic activity started in
the 19th Century, when the springs were analysed again.
Polanica became a very famous therapeutic centre and
many new structures were built.In 1904 a medical society
- the new owner of the town - stimulated an enormous
development of the Sanatorium.During the world wars
the Sanatorium became a hospital.
The therapeutic activity started again in 1946. The
fame of Polanica grew in the 50`s thanks to some new
methods of geriatric diseases` treatment with bees`
wax and thanks to the development of aesthetic surgery.
With its modern touristic base, climate conditions
and the beauty of the zone, Polanica is a perfect
place for the tired, ill and exhausted people.
